The Past: 34 Years of Helping to Set Industry Trends
In 1973, two immigrant-entrepreneurs created a paper founded on the basic principle of free classified advertising for private parties. These free ads became our editorial and gave the community a paper that really was the product of its members. A quarter of a century later, the operation that started out of a garage in Hollywood has grown into the largest group of free ad publications in the world. Its charter has been simple: where possible, go against the grain, work hard, don't get caught up in organizational bureaucracy, give people a forum to advertise -- and the market will follow.
