Derek Golden Retriever - Yellow Labrador Retriever Dog

Hi There! My name is Derek and I am a good ol' Texas boy! I have been told I am quite the handsome guy and I am a true southern gentleman. I am a Golden Retriever mix about a year old and 50 pounds. Oh yes, and I have one brown eye and one blue eye! You just have to see me in person! I was found on the outskirts of Houston, when I wandered up to a - you guessed it - an oil derek! The guys on the rig fed me scraps and made a little shelter for me. But the foreman did not like me hanging around and called Animal Control When they came out, I walked right up to them, not knowing what they planned to do. They took me straight to BARC, the Houston city pound. I quickly realized that is was NOT a safe or friendly place and my days were numbered. Lucky for me, a volunteer for Red Collar Rescue came to my aid. I have now received all my vaccines and been neutered and micro-chipped and am ready to go! I am very friendly, outgoing and playful. I get along great with other dogs and love people! I like to take walks and am great at playing fetch! I like to splash around in the pool and I love to go for a run too!
