Selling classifieds is all about product and exposure. That’s why recycler.com is one of the top classifieds networks. We provide you with online and print exposure.

But we can’t do everything for you. As we pointed out last week in our “The Importance of the Right Keywords” article, you need to write eye-catching titles with your top keywords optimized to help you potentially rank high for Google searches related to the item(s) you are trying to sell.

But you can do even more! More exposure = more potential customers.

You have to try to spread your listings to as many eyeballs as possible to reach as many people as you can. One quick and easy way to do that is through social media.

Unless you are one of the 17 Americans that doesn’t use Facebook, you can use social media to help promote your items and get them viewed by more people.

You can also do the same thing with other social media networks, such as Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest. Sometimes posting things to multiple social media networks can take a lot of time, but not on recycler.com.

At least with the four social media networks we have mentioned, we make sharing, pinning, tweeting, etc. your items to your profile simple. Underneath the ad title, we have Facebook share, tweet, +1 and pin it buttons to help you pass along your items to all of your friends and followers.

You might think you are kind of spamming your friends, but as long as you are only posting a few of your best recycler.com ads rather than posting 100s, your friends won’t mind. Instead, they will be intrigued to see what you are trying to sell.

Sharing with your friends and followers, you already have a built-in audience of people interested in what you have to share with them. Plus, what’s better than being able to do business with someone you already know. Not only are you able to sell what you have, but you can feel pride in helping your friend find something that he/she needs.

Take advantage of the social media buttons readily available and share your ads with your following. Then hopefully, they will share or retweet what you posted…even further expanding the number of potential customers that you will have. Eventually, it can be an exponential expansion and before you know it, someone is calling or emailing you to buy your item.
