Despite its name, the American Eskimo Dog actually originated in Germany. The dog originally comes from Northern Europe where it comes from the German Spitz breed. But Americans were more liked (thanks to anti-German prejudice) after World World I, so the dog was renamed the “American Eskimo Dog.”
Sasha is an eight-year-old American Eskimo. She lost her home when her owner died and the remainder of the family couldn’t devote the time to care for little Sasha.
Having been pampered and loved by her owner, Miss Sasha’s socialization and training must have been put on the back burner. She seems to have “had Queen Bee status in her former home, and has found foster care accommodations somewhat lacking! Especially the part about sharing the digs with other dogs.”
The rescue with Sasha recommends “seasoned Eskie folks, who can step up and provide the discipline and training that she needs to adjust to her new life.”
