The Chevrolet Corvette is the quintessential American sports car. While it wasn’t the first muscle car and it may not have the same fanaticism as the Shelby Cobras (though close), the Corvette has long been the complete package when it comes to American sports cars.
The first generation of the Chevrolet Corvette grabbed the nation’s attention beginning in 1953 and carried it for nearly 10 years before Chevy decided to change up the body to the Stingray style.
By the time this 1980 version of the Corvette was produced, the model had moved on to its third generation (second generation of Stingray) of America’s top sports car.
