Online Selling Can Generate Extra Income

by recycler on January 16, 2013

Online Selling Can Generate Extra Income Turn your clutter into cash.

With the economy still working its way back, everyone could use a little extra income these days. Taking on a second job is rarely the solution for someone looking for a couple extra bucks. Using online classifieds, on the other hand, is something everyone can do.

We all accumulate way too much stuff. Christmas and birthday parties often means a handful of gifts that we may use a couple of times, if at all.

Cute Pet of the Day: Hagen

by recycler on January 4, 2013

The German shorthaired pointer was developed in for hunting in Germany. Because they needed to be fit for hunting, the German shorthaired pointer is a very active breed that loves to run around and play. Shorthaired pointers love being able to play outside, so they make for great companions for active owners.

And that’s exactly what Hagen is looking for. He recently arrived at a Southern California rescue and is looking for a fun-loving owner that will have a great time with him.

Cool Car of the Day: 2012 Lexas LFA

Cool Car of the Day: 2012 Lexas LFA

The United States slowed down on this day nearly 40 years ago. It wasn’t because a tragic moment made us all hold our breath but because of a bill signed into law by President Richard Nixon.

After oil embargoes from OPEC, U.S. citizens were forced to use less fuel and pay more expensive prices when they did fill up. In an attempt to get residents to be more conservative with their fuel consumption, Nixon signed the Emergency Highway Energy Conservation Act on January 2, 1974.

A part of the bill he signed lowered the national highway speed limits to 55 mph. By lowering the limits to more fuel-efficient speeds, the government hoped Americans’ desire for foreign oil would be curbed.

The law didn’t necessarily qualitatively produce the intended results, but the continued higher prices of fuel even after the embargoes were lifted caused Americans to move toward more fuel-efficient Japanese vehicles. Eventually the speed limit law was repealed 20 years later.

Some speed demons never abided by the 55 mph highway speed limit and we’re inclined to believe that if we would have had a 2012 Lexus LFA back then, we would not have been able to abide either. [click to continue…]

Cute Pet of the Day: Sasha

by recycler on December 27, 2012

Despite its name, the American Eskimo Dog actually originated in Germany. The dog originally comes from Northern Europe where it comes from the German Spitz breed. But Americans were more liked (thanks to anti-German prejudice) after World World I, so the dog was renamed the “American Eskimo Dog.”

Sasha is an eight-year-old American Eskimo. She lost her home when her owner died and the remainder of the family couldn’t devote the time to care for little Sasha.

Cool Car of the Day: 1988 Ferrari Testarossa

Cool Car of the Day: 1988 Ferrari Testarossa

As an 80s kid, the first exotic car I fell in love with was the Ferrari Testarossa. It wasn’t because Crockett and Tubbs rode around in a white Testarossa on Miami Vice.

Instead, it was because the sound of the Testarossa accelerating was nailed by various video games. That sound made my ears perk, my eyes light up and my heart swell with admiration for the Ferrari.

5 Holiday Shopping Tips to Save Time, Money and Headaches Photo: Michael Holden/Foter/CC BY-NC-ND.

When the turkey has been put away at the family Thanksgiving dinner, attention typically turns to two things: football and holiday shopping. While there is little you can do to change your football experience unless you are a super-talented 6-foot-4, 240-pound athlete or a super-rich multi-millionaire that owns part of the team, you can help determine how your holiday shopping experience goes.

Instead of being thrown into the frantic, rough-and-tumbleJingle All the Way situation where you’re wrestling with Sinbad and Arnold Schwarzenegger, here are some tips to make your holiday shopping less painful and possibly even enjoyable: [click to continue…]

Cool Car of the Day: 1951 Ford Custom

by recycler on December 12, 2012

There aren’t many things made today that are designed to last 20 years, much less 30, 40 or even 50 years. That wasn’t always the case.

Once upon a time, American-made products were crafted to last multiple generations rather than just multiple years. This 1951 Ford Custom Sedan is a gorgeous example. According to its classifieds listing, the ’51 Ford has lasted 61 years with everything but the paint being original. The spare tire is even original.

Ford knew what it was talking about in 1951 when it released this commercial for the Custom:

Carrying cash is slowly becoming obsolete.

Personally, I almost never have cash. I try to always get $10 or $20 cash back when I go to the grocery store or to a retail store, but somehow I never have more than one or two George Washington’s hiding out in my wallet.

Generally, it isn’t a big deal. If I go to a restaurant or a store, they all except debit and credit cards. However, I occasionally go to small doughnut shops, farmers markets and other small vendors that previously only accepted cash. But the times are changing.

New Feature Lets You List More Items, Quicker

by recycler on December 7, 2012

New Feature Lets You List More Items, Quicker The “Place another Ad” button on the right will help cut out the repetitive steps.

-
Here at recycler.com we are always trying to enhance your classifieds web experience whether you are buying or selling items (or hopefully, doing both). For our sellers, we’ve tried to streamline the listing process as much as possible, so you can save your time for more important needs.

With that in mind, we recently added a new “Place another Ad” feature. This new feature makes it much easier for sellers to submit multiple ads in one session. Now, with a click of a button, if you are selling items, you can go from the ad placement confirmation page after completing your first ad right to creating a second, or third, or fourth, or umpteen ad.

By being able to skip a lot of clicks in between, sellers will be able to add more ads and spend less time. And more ads from our sellers means more listings and a wider variety of products for our buyers. It’s positive for everyone — a win-win situation for both recycler.com buyers and sellers.

Check it out today and let us know what you think about it.
